Comment: I’ve been a member since the good ole’ days when our location was at Chamberlain High school. I love Idlewild and Pastor Ken will always have a special place in my heart! For all that he was able to accomplish at the helm of the church. His leadership has given birth to what the church has blossomed to become today. I’ve come through many fires and trails the Lord had brought me to. But with the help of the many ministries at the church. I held on to so many of Gods promises that I wear my crown of glory (pure white hair now). I learned through each and every trail. When God allows trails in our lives to happen.He wants to see with what we know of Him. Did we learn to lean on Him, trust on and in Him. To see how we are going to handle what He brought us too. And when we don’t use drugs, alcohol or any other addictions or ways to escape the trial and endure it full head on. And He follows through holding our hand leading the way to the very end. We can hear Him in our spirit say, “well done my good and faithful servant”.For me it was a great journey that I would never change a thing about it as tremendously hard the trails were. For through the fires and trails I’ve experienced. When I speak of my Heavenly Father to this day to those around me. The joy of the Lord is buried in the very depths of my soul. That I generally weep with the mention of His name.Tears seep from my eyes and down my cheeks as I Love Him so dearly. And I believe All the ministries I participated in and sermons I learned from, this helped shape and mold me to the person I am now.In Christ Jesus’s name I pray! Amen and thank you Lord and thank you IdleWild Baptist Church! I love IdleWild ❤️

Comment: Fantastic childrens ministry. Large church but feels smaller if you sit on the main floor. Everyone is so kind & welcoming. I would say most dress up for service, which we love. We prefer a more traditional, conservative experience. The pastor speaks the truth, straight from the Bible. No wishy-washy message about feelings. Coffee shop is fun for a cheap frappé & a great way to mingle with other believers. They also have a ton of Bible study classes/groups. The Christmas show was fantastic. Top notch.

Comment: Yes, it is a huge church-but once you get involved, it becomes much smaller. The church members walk the talk. They live it. Its not just a church of people who only show up on Sundays for one hour. They serve, they attend Bible study, they meet in groups, & they are in their Bibles daily. They have a relationship with Jesus & speak freely of this. So many caring brothers & sisters in Christ.The worship is great - modern songs mixed with hymns. Entertaining, but not over the top. Anyone can easily watch online.The pastor of 33 years is leaving soon (retiring?), so there is currently a search for a new pastor. Our prayer is that they decide on a pastor who will preach Bible-based sermons (not motivational speaking talks). One who will not cave to secular pressures. One who will establish himself as a leader at the church & in the community.

Comment: The people are great, loving, caring, and never stop giving to the community. Pastor Ken Whitten has a heart of gold with others always on his mind. Every worker there follows his foot steps. I love being part of this family of GOD. They are not a mega church that constantly asking for money. They give generously all around the world...yes that is right...WORLD. I personally have been on atleast 10 or more mission trips around the world. They have a great childrens ministry along with a great youth, middle school, high school, college, and adult fellowship classes. Constantly working with everyone no matter the age...birth to 150 years old if you happen to make it to that age. Dont discriminate towards any one and we welcome all. Come on in and you will be greeted with love. Dont let the size intimate you..its really not Disney land. You will be loved and love it.

The building is huge, though, and with so many people, it is difficult to make personal relationships or get plugged in if you are only attending the main service in the big auditorium. However, there are myriad small groups that meet before and after the main services. This makes it easy to get plugged in.Also, the church leadership seems to have a real heart for serving and reaching the community.

Comment: The folks at idlewild are awesome. Very friendly and caring. My kids love attending the kids services. Idlewild en español especially has become our church home. Great groups and classes. Exceptional service to the community. Alot of volunteer opportunities. Idlewild is the best place of worship we have found ever. They are geared towards serving God by serving the community and the people that need it. Pastor Ken gives a great and biblically sound sermon on sundays. Pastor Eloy preches the gospel from his heart but also walks it like he talks it. It is a perfect home for the imperfect and the best hospital in my opinion for a wounded heart and soul. I pray the Lord continues to bless this church and its members.

They have Buddy Break under Nathaniels Hope for special needs kidos, and they have programs for special needs adults as well. Deana Troyer is the best, you will like her, or love her. Comment: For a mega sized church the senior pastors do a fantastic job of making you feel welcome, fed spiritually, and included in the worship. The fantastic youth programs from ages 1 to 29 are what got us interested in attending. However its been the powerful sincerity of pastor Ken Whittens messages that has kept us fed and growing for over 14 years. Dont let the size of the place scare you, its filled and opporated by good ole regular folks like you and me with a heart for serving Jesus Christ daily. Two services and lots of classes too. The same Preacher since it was started in a home, a school, a church, and grew to need a larger church built. Beautiful choir and Orchestra. Golf cart to pick you up if parked too far. Visitor parking.

You cant beat the Sunday School teachers at Idlewild Baptist Church. And the senior pastor preaches as though he was one of the 12 disciples. No prosperity gospel or fluff--just that Jesus is our Savior, He will forgive you of your sins, and Christ is for EVERYONE. Come as you are. Despite the size, you are remembered and not lost on the mix, it feels like a small church in terms of fellowship because everyone makes an effort to make you a part of the family, but is huge in actual numbers....and is so very effective in the community and the world as well. I can understand that newcomers might be intimidated by the size, I was at first, but everyone their is truly great from the pastor to the staff especially Jake English who married with only two weeks notice and was hospitalized the night before. Ive never had a chance to join any of the bible study groups though I did inquiry and the leader was very quick to respond and honest with his responses to my questions and concerns which I appreciate. They do offer a day care service during all regular services for children under 4. Everyone their especially the volunteers are wonderful with the infants and toddlers. They have a variety of programs and support groups which is available on the website. They offer a summer camp program for the older children that is very popular and fills up fast. Its definitely a church whos congregation adores their Pastor and Pastor adores his folk.

There are so many different programs and activities for all different types of interests. I am truly, truly sad and pained that I cant regularly attend anymore, because I moved out of state. The childrens programs were wonderful, and they have lots of events and ministries. This is the best church I have ever attended. They have a great recreation ministry, all different types of sports and there is no sense of competition but more so of camaraderie, which is great for the littles. I LOVE this church!!!!!

The goal is for all to change their habits, hang ups and to eventually become a new creation. The main minister / preacher is a wise charismatic grandfather type, who gets the point a cross with humorous anecdotes and in some cases the messages bring him to weeping openly. I love their musical team and choir. Their child care facilities are similar to a trip to Disney. They have a Starbucks inside the building.
