Comment: This is an absolutely beautiful stop. Tons of room to walk around so make sure to have plenty of time to explore. It is quite and peaceful. Beautifully landscaped and lots of squirrels, birds, and lizards roaming the property. So much history to explore on the signs. The cross is such a beautiful site to behold. Really enjoyed this stop and wish that we had more time.

Comment: Very Beautiful Shrine! It was very awesome to learn this was the place where the first Catholic mass was held in the History of the Americas. It was also very cool to pray The Rosary or The Divine Mercy Chaplet at The Rosary Garden. Without any doubt The National Shrine Of Our Lady Of La Leche is a great opportunity to take advantage of. Comment: Fantastic little spot to check out. Beautiful and peaceful. Lots of St. Augustine history happening right here on this spot. If you are in the area, take the time to walk around here. I would suggest bringing some peanuts or other squirrel type food, because there will be plenty of them looking at you.

Comment: So awesome! Rich in history, a beautiful devotional for mothers and mothers to be. It’s so cool that the Spanish held Mary, especially such a motherly aspect of her, to such a high honor. Never seen anything like this anywhere else. I love that the garden is a rosary garden and it was so beautiful designed. Great work and attention to detail with the rosary. I will definitely be back.

Comment: Nice park like setting with some interesting information and history. The large 208’ cross is of course the draw but it is really a nice place to walk around and enjoy. It is free to visit. It is just one of those places you have to see when in St. Augustine.

Comment: This place always brings tears to my eyes. It is beautiful. Physically and historically. To think- after their long and arduous voyage across the ocean, the FIRST thing the Spanish settlers did was celebrate mass and praise God. I recommend visiting and celebrating mass yourself.I LOVE OUR MOTHER MARY, QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE! HELP OF CHRISTIANS!! PRAY FOR US!!!!!!!!!

Comment: Beautiful and serene. Please do keep in mind that regardless of your faith this is holy ground with both a chapel and many gravesites of the Nuns who once served the Lord there. So show proper respect. Meaning do not let your kids play on the headstones and run over their graves.That being said the grounds are beautiful, free to visit and provide some amazing history. There is plenty of shade on the walkways and the monuments there tell a story.

Comment: Such a beautiful place for anyone to visit; the perfect spot to connect with your spiritual side and learn about important facts of the Catholic Church in Florida. The prayer garden is beautiful and very relaxing and the little shrine is amazing too. I attended daily mass there and the priest and community were incredible. Highly recommended.

The Chapel/ Shrine is closed currently in prep for the canonization of the Lady of Leches this October but, the shrine and the prayer benches are located close by at the pavilion.

I first visited the Shrine in 1988 with my first born, then returned 32 years later to give her thanks for all my blessings and sufferings! And one of our sons became a priest!!!

Comment: Please come to The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche! I am Roman Catholic and this place holds a great particular importance to me in my heart. I have come back in pilgrimage here every two or three years since I live in South Florida and St.Augustine is my favorite city; of which every time I come I am fascinated and in love with it greatly. It is where our Holy faith first came to this land and should be held as sacred ground by all Catholics in The United States and beyond. It is so peaceful and is a wonderful place for spiritual contemplation and prayer. The museum is worth a visit to lean about the early Spanish/Native community and the development of the Catholic faith in Florida. The Chapel in the cemetery of Our Lady of la Leche is beautiful and is a good place to contemplate and pray. It is also recommended to go pray in the Church and pray before Christ in the tabernacle. I can say that I truly feel connected to this land of which some of my ancestors may have come and celebrated the Holy Faith and shared it with others. Also it is a place to celebrate our faith in the present day and sharing it with others around us of which is our mission. No matter where you come from or what faith you have, please come visit! It is truly wonderful. God Bless St.Augustine and Pray for us Our Lady Of La Leche!

Comment: My mother was a volunteer guide at the shrine. A few years ago, a hurricane nearly destroyed the entire site. As the dioceses set to rebuild, she unfortunately had to retire. Recently, I was honored to take her back to her most beloved place. If youve never been, please do. The history surrounding the shrine and the mission is not to be believed nor missed.

Comment: The Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche is a historical gem, just outside of the downtown Saint Augustine area. The mission church was established long before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock. Its purpose was to bring Christianity to the indigenous people and be a launching point to establish additional similar structures. The cemetary was old but well maintained. The Cross towers tall above, easily see from a distance over the water. A must see when you visit Saint Augustine!

Comment: My wife and I stumbled upon Our Lady of Leche chapel by accident as we toured around Saint Augustine by foot.We could immediately sense that the one acre grounds that it sits on had a sense of serenity and calm.At the time I did not know anything about Our Lady of Leche or of Marian apparitions but since then have learned a lot.If you are in the area, this is definitely a place to visit as is the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. And The Grotto, in Portland, OR (both of which I have also reviewed).

Comment: Free to look around everything, and major trolley tours stop here, so its worth it to stop by for a bit and explore! The grounds are gorgeous, and the church is a lovely place for a moment of quiet.Be sure to check out the museum (also free), it has some great exhibits, and the staff there is super friendly and knowledgeable. Theyre willing to explain anything on display, including some very interesting stories. For an interesting piece of history, Menendezs outer coffin is on display here as well.
